First of all, we need to understand what modal is.

In fact, there are many similarities between modal and tencel. Many people may confuse modal with tencel. Modal, like tencel, is also developed by Austrian Lanjing Company, but the spinning methods are different (one is solution spinning, the other is solvent spinning), so some properties are different.

Common characteristics: Tencel and modal both belong to wood pulp fiber (regenerated cellulose fiber); moisture absorption performance is stronger than cotton, which can reach about 12%, while cotton is only 8%; luster is better than ordinary cotton (except mercerized cotton), softness is better than ordinary cotton (soft cotton may be added softener, but tencel and modal are material properties) and so on.

Many people ask me: What is regenerated cellulose fiber?

Is it chemical fibre? If we stand on the academic point of view, they are indeed chemical fibers, but you understand that chemical fibers are actually polyester, a kind of polyester fiber extracted from petroleum. Regenerated cellulose is extracted from natural plants for spinning, so their essence is different.

What are the characteristics of the ratio of modal compared to pure cotton?

Basic no shrinkage: The shrinkage rate for modal fabric is only 1%.

Soft and comfortable: Modal has a friction factor of 0.1 less than pure cotton.

Contact cold sensation: Modal is 0.02/w.cm2 higher than pure cotton cold sensation.

Hygroscopic and breathable：Modal is 350 [g/(m2.d)] higher than pure cotton.

More washing makes it softer: pure cotton hardens after 25 washes, while Modal softens.

What's the difference between model and tencel lyocell for women's apparel?

Tencel fuzzing is easy with fibrillation: wet tencel fibrillation grade is 4, while modal grade is 1, which is relatively not easy to no have the fuzzing.

The washing of the model makes it bigger: it's better not to twist or rub heavily.
